Founder-Operator · Dublin / EU

Twenty years building rights-cleared data and content businesses. Now building at the Agentic AI × Blockchain convergence.

Two-time founder. Three ventures shipped. Operating director of the world's largest digitised collection of Irish newspapers — 260+ titles, 1738 to present. Founder of a profitable twenty-year D2C content business. Open to senior product and operating roles — VP Product · Head of Product · CPO · COO — at AI and crypto-native companies building at this convergence.

The Operator

A senior operator with receipts, not just opinions.

I operate the institutional version of what Story Protocol and Vana are building on-chain. For twenty years I've been brokering rights-cleared content into commercial licensing deals — with publishers, libraries, universities, and governments. The capability AI labs are now urgently sourcing for foundation-model training, I've been doing manually since 2003.

260+

Publications under one digital roof

The world's largest digitised collection of Irish newspapers — content from 1738 to present, deployed across every Irish public library, university and school. (Cited by Wikipedia, The Irish Times, Magill.)

100+

Institutional clients acquired

Including the British Library, National Library of Ireland, NYPL, UCLA, Notre Dame, and National & State Libraries of Australasia. The exact GTM motion AI infrastructure companies now run.

3

Major publisher licensing deals

Mediahuis (formerly Independent News & Media), Irish Times Group, Irish Examiner Group. White-label D2C storefronts powering branded commerce since 2005.

20 yrs

Profitable operating record

Through the post-2008 Irish recession, COVID supply-chain shock, and the print-to-digital secular shift — without external capital. Two ventures still running.

2

Products disciplined-sunsetted

The Guardian (UK) variant and VideoBook (2022, Kickstarter-funded). Killed both when the data didn't support continued investment. Sunsetting is a senior trait.

Ventures

Three ventures shipped. Two still operating two decades in.

Irish Newspaper Archives
Director, Operations & Commercial
2003 — Present
Active

Joined shortly after the company's Enterprise Ireland HPSU designation. Helped build it from a microfilm-conversion service into the world's largest commercial Irish newspaper archive, with a digital platform live since 2009.

Owned product, institutional B2B/B2G sales, rights and licensing, and earned-media positioning. Continually expanded the corpus across national and regional press — most recently the Irish News, Belfast Telegraph, Mayo Examiner, and The Corkman.

Today the de facto reference resource for Irish journalism, genealogy and academic research — and exactly the kind of rights-cleared, multi-century text corpus that LLM training and on-chain content-provenance protocols are actively sourcing in 2026.

Memorable Moments
Founder & Operator
2005 — Present
Active

Founded a D2C e-commerce business converting the INA content asset into personalised consumer products. Thousands of books sold. Profitable since launch. Still operating twenty years on, without external capital.

Secured licensing contracts with Mediahuis, Irish Times Group and Irish Examiner Group, powering publisher-branded white-label storefronts at irishindependent.memorablemoments.ie, irishtimes.memorablemoments.ie and irishexaminer.memorablemoments.ie.

Full P&L ownership: pricing, merchandising, performance marketing, supply chain (bindery partner network), fulfilment, customer ops, finance.

VideoBook
Founder
2022 — 2023
Sunset

Founded a print/digital hybrid — a photo book with QR-linked video playback. Successfully crowdfunded on Kickstarter (campaign closed November 2022).

Post-launch retention and repeat-order data failed to confirm PMF. Sunset the line in 2023 rather than burn further capital. Documented deliberately: knowing when to kill a product is the single highest-leverage skill in senior product leadership. Most operators can't do it.

Current Focus

Where my next twenty years go to work.

The agentic-AI × blockchain convergence is the most interesting product surface area I've seen in two decades. Four threads I'm actively focused on:

Content licensing for LLM training

Direct publisher–lab deals, on-chain IP infrastructure (Story Protocol), tokenised data DAOs (Vana). I've been operating the off-chain version of this for twenty years.

On-chain provenance & verifiable inference

Provenance is the missing piece between AI output and trust. Where archive-grade rights-clearance discipline meets cryptographic proof.

Agentic systems over knowledge bases

RAG at archive scale. MCP servers exposing curated corpora as first-class tools for Claude, GPT-class and downstream agents.

EU-regulated product

EU AI Act, MiCA, DSA, GDPR — the regulatory thicket US firms increasingly need EU-anchored product leadership to navigate. Dublin is a real edge here.

The EU Angle

I'm Dublin-based and EU/Irish citizen, with twenty years of operating receipts inside the Irish/EU commercial and regulatory environment. For US-headquartered AI and crypto companies needing senior EU-anchored product leadership — under MiCA, the AI Act, the DSA, GDPR — that combination is rare and increasingly valuable.

Building In Public

Receipts, in code.

Operators talk. Operators who ship are different. Live and in-progress artefacts using my own content asset as the moat.

In progress

INA-Agent

A working agentic-AI demo over a curated sample of pre-1900 Irish newspaper content from the Irish Newspaper Archives corpus. RAG web demo + MCP server exposing the archive as a first-class tool to Claude Desktop and other MCP-compatible clients.

Let's Talk

If you're building at the convergence, I want to hear about it.

I'm in active conversations with AI and crypto-native companies hiring senior product and operating leaders. Series A through C, founder-led, with a real product moat and EU regulatory awareness. If that's you — or you know someone who fits the description — get in touch directly.
